    Karongwe Game Reserve

“The best safari experience we had”

We wanted to visit Kruger Park before coming to Chisomo, so we were aware we would miss our lunch and had some cakes and chips ready to go until dinner. Our surprise was great when we arrived that the lunch was waiting for us and the food was great! Also, we saw all types of animals (and this was not possible anywhere else) in Karongwe Game Reserve. If you have the chance to be accompanied by Cobus and Gabriel, you are sure to enjoy and laugh alot! We now wait to visit South Africa again someday!

My husband and I stayed at Chisomo for 3 nights last winter and were beyond impressed during our stay. The food and accommodations were wonderful, and the service was even better. The staff at Chisomo were so pleasant and attended to all of our questions/concerns/needs during our short stay. When we realized that we had forgotten a piece of luggage in the airport shuttle, the staff quickly contacted the driver and requested a return trip to drop off the luggage. Our guide, Rifos, and his assistant, Norman were funny, kind, and incredibly knowledgeable about the terrain and animals. They were successful in guiding us to see all Big 5 and taught us a number of interesting things along the way. Big thanks to all of the staff at Chisomo for providing such an enjoyable vacation experience!

    “Friendly Staff, great experience!”

We spent 3 nights at Chisomo and found it to be a delightful experience, from the game drives to a variety of foods to choose from at every meal and even hot water bottles tucked into the bottom of our beds at night. Our first meal was eaten in the garden, where we were entertained by warthogs running around the property. Our guides were friendly and knowledgeable, and we enjoyed spending time in the bird hide where we didn’t see a lot of birds, but were thoroughly entertained by the large family of hippos and some crocodiles in the pond right in front of the hide.

“Chisomo Safari Camp - Excellent Staff and Service!”

I really loved this place! The food was amazing, with lots of choices. They served High Tea! I loved walking down to the Watering Hole to see the animals. While we were there, we saw a Giraffe walk down for a drink and linger for a bit, as well as hippos resting in the shade under a tree. Lots of birds… just a really nice, peaceful spot. Our Safari drives were a lot of fun. We saw Elephants, a White Rhino, Giraffes, Zebras, Lions feeding on a Zebra, Warthogs, Hippos, and so much more! We went in their winter (June) and when they warn you that the evenings and mornings are cold, they aren’t kidding! The rooms were very cool during these times but, warmed up during the day. If you go, make sure you walk down to the watering hole!
